Under the Anaemia Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, girls' haemoglobin was tested

East Champaran, May 29 (HS). Under the Anaemia Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the health department conducted haemoglobin tests of women and adolescent girls across the district. Along with this, awareness was also created about menstrual hygiene.

The team of ANMs selected by the PHC of the district is checking the hemoglobin of girls in all the government schools in their area of ​​work with a digital machine, so that the blood percentage of their body can be known. This campaign is being run with the joint cooperation of the Health Department, Education Department and Piramal Foundation. After checking the hemoglobin, blue iron tablets are also being distributed among the adolescent girls.

During this time, information is also being given to the adolescent girls about menstrual hygiene and safety. The Additional Chief Medical Officer of the district, Dr. Shravan Kumar Paswan said that menstruation is a natural process, due to which there is no need to be afraid or scared. Menstruation starts in adolescent girls between the ages of 8 and 12. At this time, there is a need to pay special attention to personal hygiene.

Use of sanitary napkins is essential to avoid infection during menstruation. He said that women suffering from anaemia may have symptoms like dizziness, tiredness or lightheadedness, rapid heartbeat or palpitations, paleness of skin, brittle nails, shortness of breath or headache, and to avoid this, one should consume iron-rich food like green leafy vegetables, apricots, eggs, lentils, oranges and seasonal fruits along with dates, etc. District representative of Piramal organization, Mukesh Kumar said that the haemoglobin test of all the girls will be considered as baseline data and the test will be done again after six months.

In the meantime, during the six-month period, they will be given nutrition/diet related advice and their weekly intake of iron tablets will be ensured. On this occasion, Medical Officer in charge Hashim Sah, Block Health Manager Rajiv Mishra, Ravi Kumar, BCM Ajay Kumar, ANM Naheeda Khatoon, Lab Technician Sarfaraz Ahmed, Consultant Brajesh Kumar, Piramal Foundation's District Representative Mukesh Kumar and Rana Firdaus, Shobha Kumari and others were present.
