Under-14 and 17 girls played in the district level inter-school tournament at Subhash Stadium.

Udhampur, 21 May (HS). District Youth Services and Sports Office (DYSSO), Udhampur, under the aegis of Director Subhash Chandra Chhibber and the chairmanship of Saloni Rai, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, has made a grand start of the District Level Inter-School Tournament at Subhash Stadium. The event is being supervised by DYSSO Udhampur, Romesh Chandra Mishra.

On the fourth day of the ongoing multi-faceted tournament of softball, basketball, judo and taekwondo at the Subhash Stadium, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Romesh Chandra Mishra graced the event as the chief guest.

Mishra, in his address to the gathering of athletes, explained the intricacies of sports and extolled the virtues of athletic endeavour. He strongly encouraged the participants to stay away from harmful substances and other harmful distractions and stressed the paramount importance of maintaining a clean lifestyle.

The DYSSO also highlighted the stellar achievements of the department, stating that around 124 students had advanced to national level competitions, with Udhampur securing a commendable silver medal in Taekwondo at the national platform. His team included eminent executives like Kuldeep Sharma, Yash Paul, Nitin Singh Rathore, Santosh Abrol, Raj Kumar Sharma, Jaswinder Singh, Anshu Brat Khanna and Vipan Photo, along with other dedicated office staff Som Dev Khajuria, Ramesh Chandra, Sanjeev Kumar were also included.

The extravaganza witnessed a strong participation with many athletes showcasing their strength and enhancing the prestige of both their respective fields and schools. Exemplary athletes who distinguished themselves in this tournament will advance to the upcoming competitions, which have the potential to further enhance the fame of the district.

In the matches played on Tuesday, in the Judo under-14 girls category, Meenakshi Devi Zone Ghordi in 23 kg, Payal Zone Jib in 32 kg, Shivli Devi Zone Jib in 36 kg, Pratima Zone Udhampur in 44 kg while Priya in the Under-17 girls category. Sharma Zone Udhampur was the winner.

Whereas in Taekwondo Under-14 girls' competitions, Preeti Devi Zone Ghordi, Babli Devi Zone Jib, Aarti Devi Zone Jib, Anjali Devi Zone Ghordi, Purvi Zone Jib, Apurbha Zone Udhampur, Sampreeta Zone Udhampur, Niharika Jamwal Zone Jib, Angel Dubey Zone Udhampur. , Sanvi Thakur Zone Udhampur, while in the Under-17 category Minali Zone Udhampur, Srishti Panotra Zone Udhampur, Batiksha Sharma Zone Udhampur, Vasundhara Sharma Zone Udhampur, Nisa Vani Zone Udhampur, Vanshika Bharti Zone Udhampur, Rhythm Arora, Prachi Thakur, Umra Kausar, Sunali Zone Udhampur, Ishita Rajput, Tanushree Jib zone were the winners.

Additionally, basketball, softball trials were successfully conducted by the officials, which is another important milestone in the tournament.
