Kiev, August 13 (HS). A day after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the Ukrainian army's operation in Russia's Kursk region, Ukrainian military commander General Oleksandr Sirsky on Tuesday claimed that his army has taken control of about 1,000 square kilometers of territory in Russia's Kursk region.
Earlier, Zelensky said this in a post on Telegram, praising the country's soldiers and commanders 'for their firmness and decisive action'. He did not give further information about the operation of his troops in Russian territory. He also said that Ukraine would provide humanitarian aid in the region. Zelensky said that government officials have been instructed to prepare a humanitarian plan for the region.
The control in the Kursk region was revealed in a video posted on Ukrainian President Zelensky's Telegram channel on Monday. In which the military chief briefed the President about the situation on the front line. This is the first time a Ukrainian military official has publicly commented on gaining an edge in this war.
“The troops are carrying out their tasks. Fighting is ongoing along the entire front line. The situation is under our control,” General Oleksandr Sirsky said in the video.
