Ukraine has attacked Moscow with at least 34 drones, according to a Reuters report, marking Ukraine's biggest drone attack on the Russian capital since the war in 2022. Due to this attack, flights from three major airports of the city had to be diverted.
Army destroyed the drone
The Russian Air Force destroyed 36 drones in three hours in other areas of western Russia on Sunday, the Defense Ministry said. An attempt by the Kiev government to carry out a terrorist attack on the territory of the Russian Federation using aircraft-type drones was foiled, the ministry said. Unofficial videos posted on Russian Telegram channels showed drones hovering in the sky.
Many flights were diverted due to the attack
Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency said the airports of Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo and Zhukovsky diverted at least 36 flights, but flight operations have resumed. There is also news of one person being injured in the Moscow area.
At the same time, Ukraine says that Russia launched a record 145 drones overnight. Kiev said its air defenses shot down 62 of them and that they attacked an armory in Russia's Bryansk region, the area where 14 drones were shot down.
Some officials say Moscow's military is advancing at its fastest pace since the early days of the war following Republican candidate Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election. It has been two and a half years since the Ukraine-Russia war.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump will take over as the 47th President of the United States in January. He said during his election campaign that he could bring peace to Ukraine within 24 hours, but gave few details about how he would do this.
According to media reports, when Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called Trump to congratulate him on his victory in the presidential election, Tesla CEO and Trump supporter Elon Musk also joined the call.
