Ujjain: Two people died due to wall collapse near Mahakal temple, two injured referred to Indore | News India

Ujjain, 27 September (HIST). A major accident took place in Ujjain city of Madhya Pradesh on Friday. Due to heavy rain here on Friday evening, an old wall near Mahakal temple collapsed. In this accident, two people died due to being buried under debris and two people were seriously injured. On receiving the information, police and administration officials reached the spot and with the help of Home Guard and SDRF rescue team, rescued the people buried under the debris and took them to the hospital. Most of the injured are setting up shop in front of Mahakal temple and selling worship materials.

According to the information, the accident occurred at around 7 pm due to the collapse of the old wall of Maharajwada School near Bada Ganesh Temple in front of gate number four of Mahakal Temple. It is being told that renovation work was going on in Maharajwada School near Mahakal Temple. The work of Mahakal Mahalok Phase 2 is also going on here. It was cloudy here since Friday morning. Heavy rain fell in the afternoon. At the time this accident happened, it was raining heavily.

Home Guard and District Commandant of SDRF, Santosh Kumar Jat said that the wall collapse incident took place just before the evening aarti of Lord Mahakal. There is an old wall next to the Ganesh temple in front of gate number four of Mahakal temple, it suddenly collapsed. On receiving information about the accident, administration, police and temple management committee officers and employees reached the spot and started rescue. The accident happened amid heavy rain, which also caused problems in rescue.

He said that the injured were taken out by ambulance to the district hospital. Two injured here were serious and died during treatment. At the same time, a woman and a three-year old innocent child have been referred to Indore. As soon as the information was received, Ujjain Collector Neeraj Kumar Singh and Superintendent of Police Pradeep Sharma also reached the spot and took information about the matter. Collector Neeraj Kumar Singh has ordered an investigation into the matter. He said that the SDM will investigate this entire matter.

Ujjain Collector Singh told that the retaining wall was built near Maharajwada School. It collapsed due to heavy rain. Four people selling flowers down there were buried under the debris. He was taken out and taken to the hospital. One woman and one man died in these. Two people have been referred to Indore. He said that there is another structure near this retaining wall. The Supreme Court has stayed on this. After heavy rains the water found no way out. Due to this the wall collapsed. SDM will investigate the entire matter.

Ujjain Superintendent of Police Pradeep Sharma has also confirmed the death of two people in the accident. He said that the deceased have been identified as 22-year-old Farin, wife of Azad Rathore, resident of Jaisinghpur, Ujjain, and 27-year-old Ajay, son of Omnath Yogi, resident of Shivshakti Nagar, Ujjain. Whereas Sharda Bai (40), wife Sohan Lal, resident of village Ujjainiya police station Ghatiya and three-year old Ruhi daughter Azad Rathore, resident of Jaisinghpura Ujjain, have been referred to Indore in critical condition.
