Ujjain: Lokayukta Commissioner arrested two women officers posted in Commercial Tax Department for taking bribe of Rs 35.00 | News India

Ujjain, 3 October (Hindustan Reporter). The action of the Lokayukta Police against the corrupt is continuing in Madhya Pradesh. In this sequence, on Thursday, the Lokayukta Police took major action and arrested two women officers posted in the Commercial Tax Department for taking a bribe of Rs 3500. Both the women officers had demanded bribe from the contractor in the name of providing GST number. The District Commissioner is taking action as per rules against the women officers accused in the case.

Lokayukta DSP Rajesh Pathak told that Deep Singh Weaver, resident of Mahavir Bagh Colony, has a firm named Shri Radha Contractor. Complainant Deep Singh Weaver told that he has taken the work of cement ballast from GR Company on Ujjain Badnawar Road. After the completion of the work, when the company asked me to get the GST number, I applied for the GST number on 23rd August. Kiran Joshi, Assistant Grade 3 and Inspector Vijaya Bhilala, posted in the Commercial Tax Department, were demanding a bribe of Rs 6,000 in exchange for giving the number. After this, both the women officers agreed to give GST number at Rs 35.00. The complainant complained about this to the District Commissioner. After investigation, if the allegations were found to be true, the District Commissioner planned to catch both of them red-handed. As per the plan, on Thursday the Lokayukta Commissioner took the complainant to the department's office along with the bribe amount. As soon as the complainant gave the bribe money to both of them, the Commissioner arrested them red handed. Action is being taken against both the women officers under the Corruption Act.
