UIDAI gave clarification on this special update of Aadhaar card | Live Updates, Unveiling the Latest India News Trends

There is a news going around on social media regarding Aadhaar card that if you have made Aadhaar card 10 years ago and if you have not updated it before 14th June, then Aadhaar card will not be considered valid after 14th June. Amidst such news, UIDAI has given this clarification.

UIDAI clarifies

UIDAI has denied the claims being made on social media. And said that this news is not true. They said that this is false news. Nothing like this is going to happen. Even if you do not update your Aadhaar card after 10 years, the Aadhaar card will not be considered invalid, that Aadhaar card will be considered valid.

Free update in Aadhaar card till June 14

The important thing is that the government has extended the free update limit for updating the Aadhaar card till June 14. Earlier this limit was only till March 14. But now you will be able to upload documents online for free till June 14 to update the Aadhaar card. However, this free update facility will be available only to those people who have updated their Aadhaar number online. Otherwise they will have to go to the Aadhaar service center and pay to update their Aadhaar card. Like if someone's phone number is not linked to the Aadhaar card, then he will have to go to the service center and pay a charge for it.

How to update Aadhaar card online?

  • Click on UIDAI's self-service update portal i.e. https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/ssup/.
  • Click on 'Login' and enter your unique 12 digit Aadhaar number and the captcha code provided.
  • Then click on 'Send OTP'. You will enter the OTP sent to the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar.
  • Now select 'Update Aadhaar Online' under the Services tab.
  • Now click on 'Proceed to Update Aadhaar' and select the details you want to change.
  • Your existing name on your Aadhaar card will appear on your screen.
  • You can make any changes by uploading the document.
  • Confirm what you changed. The information will then be updated.
