Jaunpur, 02 August (HS). Police on Thursday arrested a youth and a goldsmith who had looted the family of Vashishtha Narayan Mishra, resident of Dhaniyamau of Baksha police station area, at gunpoint, along with jewellery near Lakhanipur railway gate of Baksha police station area. Two gold chains, two gold lockets, a pistol and a motorcycle were recovered from them. On Friday, the police took legal action and sent the accused to jail.
Vashishtha Narayan Singh, a resident of Dhaniyamau of Baksha police station area, was returning to his village Dhaniyamau in an Innova car with his family members on the night of July 13 after attending a wedding in Kohra village of Machhlishahr police station area. Three unknown persons came on a motorcycle under the Sihipur bridge. They stopped the car and showed weapons and looted gold ring, chain, and necklace etc. from the family members. The police had registered a case on the basis of the complaint and started searching for the accused.
As soon as the information was received, the station in-charge along with his team arrested Dharmendra Gaur, resident of Kotila Belwar police station Sujanganj and gold buyer Sunil Soni, resident of Belwar, while purchasing gold, near the Lakhanipur railway gate.
Revealing the case on Friday, Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Shailendra Kumar Singh said that the arrested accused Dharmendra Gaur said that he and his associates Atul Gaur, Arvind Kewat, Surendra Gaur had looted the people sitting in the Innova vehicle. Atul Gaur is the leader of our gang. The police team has already arrested him in an encounter. The victims have been asked to identify the items. The search for Arvind Kewat and Surendra Gaur is on. They will be arrested soon.
