The court of Additional District Judge-10 Yogendra Chauhan on Tuesday sentenced the accused accused of drug smuggling eight years ago to two years of rigorous imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 3,000. In case of non-payment of fine, he will have to face additional punishment of 30 days imprisonment.
Assistant District Government Advocate Dinesh Kumar Kashyap said that on July 10, 2016, the then Inspector Vimal Kumar had filed a case in the Civil Lines police station area of the metropolis. In which he said that he and his fellow policemen were on peacekeeping duty. Then the informer informed that some people were selling drugs near the Social Welfare Office. When he reached the spot on receiving information, a young man was weighing something with a scale in his hand. When the police caught him using force, he revealed his name as Bunty, son of Nandan, resident of Adarsh Colony. Two kilos of ganja was recovered from him. The police arrested the accused and sent him to jail. The case was heard in the court of ADJ 10 Yogendra Chauhan.
