Two smugglers of inter-state gang arrested, ganja worth 40 lakhs seized

Firozabad, 02 August (HS). Meerut unit of UP STF, with the help of Sirsaganj police station team, arrested two accused of an interstate drug smuggling gang on Friday. Ganja worth Rs 40 lakh was recovered from their possession. The accused buy the recovered ganja from Orissa and sell it in many districts of the state.

Senior Superintendent of Police Saurabh Dixit said that the arrested accused Vivek Kumar, a resident of Haryana state and Madhav, a resident of Bhopalganj, Bihar state, have been arrested from Ukhrand Cut NH 19 police station area Sirsaganj. A truck number (HR 73-B-2121) was seized and searched. 190 kg of 95 packets in eight sacks were recovered from the truck.

On the basis of interrogation, the names of the accused involved in smuggling of illegal drugs, Chandrama resident of Gopalganj (he had given it for supply in Agra Mathura. Hariom resident Aligarh, Rakesh alias Bannu resident Govardhan district Mathura were to deliver it to them) have also come to light. Police have registered a case under relevant sections and sent the accused to jail.
