According to media reports, both the planes belonged to commercial airlines. One flight was PSA Airlines 5511 and the other was Endeavor Air 5421. A statement issued by the FAA said that the incident took place on July 8 at 11:50 am. ATC instructed PSA Airlines 5511 to avoid a plane at Syracuse Hancock International Airport. Which took off from the same runway.

Both flights were given the green signal

According to a news agency, the traffic control first gave the green signal to PSA 5511 for landing, after which they also gave the green signal to Endeavor Air 5421 to take off from the same runway. According to the report of flight tracking website FlightRadar24, there was a distance of about 700-1000 feet between the two flights. PSA Airlines 5511 had 75 passengers and four crew members. While Endeavor Air 5421 had 76 passengers and four crew members. Which includes two pilots and two flight attendants. 159 people were rescued from this tragedy.
