Etawah, 06 September (HS). The District and Sessions Court in Etawah sentenced a man on Friday in the case of kidnapping and murdering a youth and throwing his body in the river.
The court has convicted a BJP leader and a youth in this incident and sentenced them to life imprisonment. A fine has also been imposed.
The District and Sessions Court has sentenced a youth including BJP leader Shiv Pratap Rajput to life imprisonment and fine in the case of kidnapping and murder of a youth and throwing his body in the river. On hearing the sentence from the court, the BJP leader started crying in the court premises.
The prosecution lawyer said that on April 19, 2015, a youth named Santosh Kumar was kidnapped and shot dead and his body was thrown into the Kwari river under Sahaso police station area. After finding the body, deceased Santosh's brother Rajiv identified the body and filed a case against BJP leaders Shivpratap Rajput and Deepu Sharma on charges of kidnapping and murder. On the basis of continuous cross-examination and evidence for nine years in this case, today the District and Sessions Judge sentenced the guilty BJP leaders Shivpratap Rajput and Deepu Sharma to life imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of one lakh ten thousand rupees on the accused. He said that as soon as the sentence was announced, the family members of the deceased thanked the judiciary and expressed satisfaction. At the same time, after the court's verdict was announced, the police present in the court took both the convicted accused into custody and sent them to the central jail.
