Faridkot: Two children from Pakistan, who accidentally entered the Indian border 19 months ago, could not return to their homeland on Thursday as the Pakistan High Commission at Attari border did not send a travel order to Pakistan.

It is noteworthy that on August 31, 2022, two boys, Abbas and Hasan Ali, residents of Lahore, Pakistan, had accidentally entered the Indian border, due to which they were arrested. Both were living in Faridkot Child Correctional Home. In April 2023, both the children were acquitted by the court. Since then he was waiting for release.

Legal aid officials said Punjab and Haryana High Court Justice NS Shekhawat had requested for the release of these children during his visit to Faridkot jails. After the order issued by the High Court, the District Legal Aid Authority tried to get these children released. They were to be sent to Pakistan on Thursday. According to this, the team reached Attari border of Amritsar in the morning with both the children. Since the Pakistani travel order could not reach there, both the children were sent back to Faridkot Child Correctional Home in the evening. This has been confirmed by Raj Kumar, Superintendent of Child Correctional Home. He said that both the children will now be sent to Pakistan only after getting the travel order from Delhi to Pakistan High Commission.
