Two new scholarships will be started in Chemistry of BHU


Varanasi, 28 February (HS). Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is going to start two new scholarships for Chemistry students. For both the new scholarships, the university has received a donation of Rs 10 lakh under the reimbursement scheme.

It is worth noting that on December 22, 2023, it was agreed to provide scholarships to two students each in Chemistry and Law and a donation of Rs 20 lakh was given. The donor has so far donated Rs 30 lakh to provide a total of six scholarships. Madan Mohan Kayastha, who obtained M.Tech degree in Industrial Chemistry from BHU in 1951, and his wife Santosh Kayastha have provided financial support to the University to start these scholarships in the memory of their parents. Pro. Jain said that the attachment and commitment of the alumni of the university towards BHU is incomparable. Director of the Institute of Science, Prof. Sanjay Kumar called it an exemplary initiative. Head of the Faculty of Science, Prof. SM Singh said that these scholarships will encourage the feeling of competitiveness and moving towards excellence among the students. Chairman of the Chemistry Department, Prof. Maya Shankar Singh said that her department is one of the largest departments in the university. Discussing about the visit of the department, Prof. Singh appreciated the contribution of donors in promoting science. Donor Madan Mohan Kayastha thanked Kashi Hindu University for providing the opportunity to start scholarships.
