Two kidnappers shot in police encounter, arrested

Kanpur, March 03 (HS). On Sunday morning, there was an encounter with the kidnappers of a two-year old innocent boy from Phulbagh intersection in the Feelkhana police station area on 24th February. In the encounter, both the kidnappers were shot in their legs and admitted to the hospital. The police recovered the innocent child safely from the kidnappers and a reward of Rs 2 lakh will be given to the team.

DCP Headquarters Ashish Srivastava, while disclosing the incident in a press conference on Sunday, said that the two-year-old son of Gudda, who lived on the footpath in Phoolbagh, was playing there on February 24. Meanwhile, youth riding a bike kidnapped the innocent child.

The police team including DCP East SK Singh, who arrived on information, searched for him, but without success. On this, Crime Branch, Surveillance and SWAT team along with Feelkhana police were deployed and more than three hundred CCTV footage of the city was searched.

On Sunday morning, the police team received information that both the kidnappers were seen near Bhagwatdas Ghat in Feelkhana police station area. A blockade was made on this and after seeing the police team, the kidnappers started running away and started firing. The police team responded by firing in defense and both the kidnappers were shot in the legs. Both the kidnappers were sent to the district hospital for treatment and on their notice the innocent child was recovered safely. The police team that uncovers the incident will be given a reward of Rs 2 lakh.

Kidnapping of innocent child for sister

DCP Headquarters said that during interrogation, the main accused Rajjan, resident of Kidwai Nagar, said that his elder sister was married many years ago, but was not having children. His family members used to taunt him on this. This was discussed with younger sister Neetu and it was decided that a child should be kidnapped and given to the elder sister. For this, friend Pankaj, resident of M Block Kidwai Nagar was also included. On 24th February, both of us along with Pankaj went out on bike and saw many children playing near Phulbagh bus stand and no one was with them. On this, innocent Karthik was kidnapped and handed over to his elder sister saying that the child has been adopted from Seema, a resident of Fatehpur. For this, a fake stamp was written and the elder sister's family was told that talks had been held with Seema for Rs 4.5 lakh. On this his family members also gave half a rupee.
