Two interstate smugglers arrested with opium worth Rs 55 lakh

Ghaziabad, 18 October (Hindustan Reporter). In a joint operation, the police and crime branch of Muradnagar police station area of ​​Ghaziabad district have busted an inter-state gang by arresting two smugglers with opium. This gang supplies opium as per demand from Chatra district of Jharkhand state to Ghaziabad, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Western Uttar Pradesh and Delhi NCR.

Both the smugglers have been arrested from Preet Vihar Bamba Road of Muradnagar police station area. 2.100 kg of opium has been recovered from them, whose value in the international market is said to be around Rs 55 lakh. The arrested people have been identified as Sanjay Bhuyan and Ramchandra Bhuyan, residents of village Asadiya police station Asadiya district-Chatra Jharkhand.

During interrogation, Sanjay Bhuyan told that he is illiterate and is a resident of Chatra district of Jharkhand. Earlier he used to work as a cook at a hotel near his village but he did not get much money for it. Due to great need of money, he came in contact with opium smuggler Prakash, a resident of Chatra district. Prakash used to smuggle opium to many states outside Jharkhand. Sanjay Bhuyan also took goods from opium smuggler Prakash and started smuggling opium from Jharkhand to Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab and Delhi NCR.

The second accused Ramchandra Bhuiyan told that he is a resident of Chatra district and is 10th pass. Earlier he used to work as a daily wage laborer in shuttering bars in his own village. He did not get much money for this work. Meanwhile, through his friend, he came in contact with opium smuggler Prakash and started smuggling opium. In this work, both of them got 20 thousand rupees for each round, due to which both of them started getting more profit. When interrogated, both of them also told that when they started getting more profit in this work, then both of them started smuggling their goods away from Prakash, in which they started getting more profit.

Both of them have been doing opium smuggling work for more than a year and have many times delivered the goods to parties in different states. Both the arrested accused told that as much demand for opium is received by them, both of them come here alternately by buses and trains. These people decide before leaving the place to whom the goods are to be delivered, where and at what time the goods are to be delivered. When both of them carry the goods, they do not contact anyone until they deliver the goods to the designated place to whom they are to be delivered. This time the consignee had called them in Ghaziabad but they were caught before delivering the goods.
