Two Gujarati players will play in Paris Olympics, got place in Indian team for the first time

Paris Olympics 2024: Gujarat's international table tennis players Harmeet Desai and Manav Thakkar will represent India in the upcoming Paris Olympics in July-August. Both the table tennis stars from Gujarat have been included in the men's team announced by the Table Tennis Federation of India for the Paris Olympics. With this, a major history has been created in the sports world of Gujarat. India's men's and women's table tennis teams have qualified for the Olympic table tennis team event for the first time this time.

Harmeet Desai and Manav Thakkar are included

Anchat Sharath Kamal and Manika Batra will lead India's men's and women's table tennis teams at the Paris Olympics. Along with Sharath, Harmeet Desai and Manav Thakkar have been included in the India men's table tennis team. At the same time, Shreeja Akula and Archana Kamath have been given a chance along with Manika Batra in the Indian women's team. India have G as alternate player in both the categories respectively. Sathiyan and Ayahiya Mukherjee have been selected.

The team was selected on the basis of world ranking

Along with the team event, Sharath Kamal and Harmeet Desai will also compete in the men's singles. While Manika Batra and Sreeja will compete in the women's singles event. The Indian Table Tennis Federation has selected the team on the basis of the latest world rankings. 4-year-old Sathiyan Karkidi is all set to participate in the Olympics for the fifth and last time.
