Bangladesh Army to receive training from Pakistan Army: Now after 53 years, Pakistani army has entered Bangladesh. This news has created a stir. The same Pakistani army which was driven out of East Pakistan in 1971 is now trying to regain its hold in this country. The current interim government of Bangladesh has taken steps towards increasing military and strategic ties with Pakistan, which may pose a new challenge to India. A special team led by General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of PAK Army, will go there in February 2025 to provide training to Bangladesh.

In the first phase, the training will be conducted at the Army Training and Doctrine Command (ATDC) headquarters in Mymenshahi Cantt. This program will run for one year. After this, Pakistani Army will take training in all the 10 military commands of Bangladesh. General Mirza had sent this proposal to Bangladesh in November. Which was accepted by Bangladesh Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman.

This development reveals the changed situation after the formation of Sheikh Hasina’s government. Since then, the interim government has intensified efforts to strengthen relations with Pakistan. Bangladesh’s war exercise ‘Aman-2025’ with Pakistan Navy will take place at Karachi port in February 2025.

This war exercise is conducted every two years, but Bangladesh has been away from it for the last 15 years. During the reign of Sheikh Hasina, any kind of military exercises with PAK was banned. But now the situation has changed. The interim government of Bangladesh has not only agreed to participate in this exercise but is also preparing for a joint exercise with the PAK Navy in the Bay of Bengal.

Is Bangladesh becoming East Pakistan again?

Bangladesh had limited relations with Pakistan during the government of Sheikh Hasina. In 2022, Sheikh Hasina did not allow Pakistani warship PNS Taimur to anchor at Chittagong port. But the current interim government has already allowed cargo coming from PAK to Chittagong and has also exempted the goods from inspection.

The increasing role of ISI remains a cause of trouble for India.

Resumption of direct flight service between Dhaka and Islamabad has already been announced. Visa rules have been relaxed for citizens of Pakistan. Pakistani cargo ships were allowed entry without inspection at Chittagong port. Pakistan’s strategy is being seen behind the current changes in Bangladesh.

Pakistani forces have been active in Bangladesh for a long time

According to reports, Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI played an important role in toppling Sheikh Hasina’s government and forming an interim government. Pakistani power has been active in Bangladesh for a long time, which is now coming out openly. This step of Pakistan can be a big challenge for India from strategic point of view.

danger to chicken neck

Pakistan’s increasing presence in Bangladesh may increase the threat to the Siliguri Corridor (Chicken Neck), the only route connecting India with the northeastern states. Along with this, there is also a fear of fundamentalist forces becoming stronger in the North-East of India.

Is Bangladesh once again coming under the influence of Pakistan? The current situation strongly raises this question. The Pakistan-Bangladesh alliance is not only a diplomatic challenge for India, but has also become a matter of great concern from the security point of view.
