Two-day seminar on the three new laws at Gyan Bhavan in Patna

Patna, 27 July (HS). Chief Justice of Patna High Court, Director General of Police, Bihar and senior officials of Indian Police Service along with many other dignitaries attended the two-day seminar organized on new criminal laws at Gyan Bhawan in Patna as the chief guest. A two-day workshop has been organized on July 27-28 under the joint aegis of Patna High Court and the state government regarding the three new laws (Indian Civil Defense Code 2023, Indian Justice Code 2023 and Indian Evidence Act 2023) implemented from July 1.

Chief Justice KV Chandran inaugurated this two-day workshop. Addressing the workshop, he said that these three new laws will provide a lot of convenience to the common citizens. He elaborately highlighted the importance of forensic investigation. On this occasion, Justice Ashutosh Kumar said that having a qualified investigator has a very positive impact on the execution of cases.

State government's Advocate General PK Shahi said that this workshop was organized on the advice of Chief Justice KV Chandran. He said that now trials will not go on for years like before. He expressed hope that with these new laws people will get speedy justice. Police has started working under these new laws. Arvind Chaudhary, Home Secretary welcomed all the guests. He highlighted the need to improve the process of criminal cases. About sixteen lakh eighty thousand cases are pending for hearing in various courts of the state.

State DGP RS Bhatti said that the new law emphasizes on digital investigation. The new laws will be implemented effectively. Development Commissioner cum Chief Secretary in charge Chaitanya Prasad said that how the rule of law can be established will have to be decided on priority basis. The purpose of these laws is to provide effective justice to the victims. It will also be necessary to see that the evidence is not tampered with.
