Two buses fell into the Trishuli river after a landslide on a highway amid heavy rains in Nepal on Friday morning. According to officials present at the spot, 63 people including the drivers of both the buses were on board. According to media reports, 7 Indians and a bus driver died in the accident. More than 50 people are missing.
According to Nepali media, the death of a bus driver has been confirmed, while 2 people saved their lives by jumping from the bus. The accident occurred around 3:30 am on the Madan-Asvit highway in central Nepal. Search and rescue operations are facing difficulties due to continuous rain and strong flow of water.
In this regard, Chitwan Chief District Officer Indradev Yadav said that the bus that fell into the river due to the landslide was going to Kathmandu. There were 24 people on the boat. There were 41 people in the other bus. On the other hand, Nepal's Chief Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has expressed grief over the incident. He wrote in a tweet that I am deeply saddened by the news of about five dozen passengers missing due to the landslide ball bus overturning at Narayangarh-Muglin Road Station. I direct all the agencies of the government to locate the passengers and rescue them properly.
