Mumbai: Thane’s crime branch and anti-narcotics cell seized Rs 1 lakh in two separate operations. Medicines worth more than Rs 11 lakh were seized. Two accused involved in this case were arrested.
According to details, in the first case, on December 11, 2024, acting on a tip-off, the Anti-Narcotics Cell arrested Mohammad Abdul Rehman Syed near Khardigaon Lake on the road from Khardigaon to Diwa in Mumbai.
The accused, resident of Khoonigaon, was caught with 60.3 grams of Mephedrone. Whose estimated cost is Rs. It is said to be Rs 7.43 lakh. NDPS registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code at Mumbra police station and further investigated the involvement of some other people in the case.
Apart from this, in another operation, Nawaz Pawle, resident of Mumbra, was arrested on December 12, 2024 at around 6.25 pm from Ganesh Khind-Kalyan Phata Road in Daighar, Thane.
The crime branch recovered about 720 bottles of codeine based cough syrup from him. Whose estimated cost is Rs. It is said to be 3.65. Which was allegedly being sold illegally by Nawaz.
The Crime Branch registered a case against the accused under sections 8(c) and 22(c) of the NDPS and relevant provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 at Sheel Daighar police station. The police conducted further investigation into the matter to find out where the cough syrup bottles seized by Nawaz came from and to whom he was going to sell them.
