East Champaran, 18 August (HS). Police have arrested two accused in the case of murder of a girl by chopping her with an axe four days ago in Madhuban police station area of the district. Both are residents of the same village. The arrested accused have been sent to Motihari in judicial custody.
Pakridyal DSP Subodh Kumar said on Sunday that in the case of brutal murder of a girl living in her maternal grandmother's house by cutting her neck with an axe, the police have arrested Chunchun Kumar and Shankar Kumar, residents of her village, on the basis of technical investigation and marks found on slippers. On interrogation and identification from them, an axe used in the incident, three mobile phones, a set of slippers and the T-shirt and half pants worn by the accused at the time of the incident have been recovered.
The arrested Chunchun Kumar has admitted his involvement in the incident and said that he was in a love affair with the girl for a year. A week before the incident, the girl had stopped talking to him after her family objected. Angered by this, he, with the help of his friend Shankar Kumar, messaged the girl from his mobile and threatened to make her video viral on Facebook. After this, he entered the house and beat up the girl in anger. He killed her by cutting her neck with an axe that was already kept in the house.
It is noteworthy that last Thursday, a young girl named Nisha, who was living at her maternal grandmother's house in Gurmia village since childhood, was brutally murdered.
