Elon Musk's social media company X, counted among the top 10 richest people in the world, has created a unique record in India. There is a record of banning millions of accounts in a month's time. X has made this record by processing more than 2 lakh accounts in just one month.
So many accounts suspended in one month!
X Corporation, the company that owns and operates the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, revealed the move in its monthly report. The company said that 2 lakh 12 thousand 627 accounts were banned in the month of March for various violations of rules on its social media platform.
This is why action has been taken
Many of the accounts banned were promoting sexual crimes against children and disseminating nudity without consent. Apart from this, action has also been taken against many accounts for promoting terrorism in Indian cyberspace. X said it has taken action on the concerned account to ensure compliance with the new IT rules of 2021.
Many accounts were suspended in January-February
According to the monthly report, 1,235 accounts spreading terrorism in Indian cyberspace were removed during the month of March. Even before this, X Corp has been cracking down on accounts that violate rules on its social media platforms. The company suspended 5 lakh 6 thousand 173 accounts in India between January 26 and February 25.
Indian users have filed more than 5 thousand complaints
The report said that during the reporting period, X received 5,158 complaints from Indian users. The company took action on those complaints under the grievance redressal mechanism. The company received 86 complaints against account suspension. After review, the company withdrew the suspension in the case of 7 accounts. The suspension remains on the remaining accounts.
This was the most common complaint
X has received the highest number of complaints from India regarding sanctions evasion. The number of these complaints was 3,074. While Indian users made 953 complaints about sensitive adult content, 412 complaints about hateful conduct and 359 complaints about abuse or harassment.
