Twenty years imprisonment to the accused of sexually exploiting a minor trapped in a love affair and then causing her abortion

Araria, May 29 (HS). The court of Araria Additional District and Sessions Judge Sixth cum Special Judge for POCSO cases, Ajay Kumar, has sentenced the lover to twenty years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of fifty thousand rupees in a three and a half year old case. The case is about the lover getting an abortion done after trapping a minor girl in a love trap and making her pregnant.

The lover who is being sentenced is Trilok Kumar, 27 year old son of Devnarayan Singh, resident of Pairwakhuri Ward No. 7, Tarabari Police Station area. Although Trilok Kumar's father Dev Narayan Singh, who was held guilty in the case, was also accused, but due to lack of evidence, the court acquitted Dev Narayan Singh honourably.

ADJ Six Ajay Kumar pronounced this sentence under the special POCSO Act. This case was registered in Araria Mahila Thana. In its judicial decision, the court has also ordered the District Legal Services Authority to pay compensation of Rs 5 lakh from the Bihar government under the Victims Compensation Act. Out of this, Rs 10,000 has already been given to the victim on 8 December 2020 on the orders of the court.

According to the FIR lodged, the victim met the accused Trilok Kumar in the Kali Mandir premises at Madanpur Dhokriya on November 7, 2020. After the said meeting, they started talking and visiting each other at her home. The two developed physical relations during the love affair and during this, the girl became pregnant. When she informed her boyfriend about this, she was made to undergo abortion by giving her medicines.

In the FIR lodged, it was stated that when the victim put pressure for marriage, the accused again established physical relations with her by assuring to marry her after his sister's marriage. When the victim's family proposed marriage, her father talked about getting her married to someone else by asking for a compensation of Rs. 50,000. The Sarpanch and the Mukhiya also held a Panchayat regarding this matter, in which Dev Narayan Singh demanded Rs. 10 lakh and a four-wheeler for getting the marriage done. Helpless due to this, the victim lodged an FIR.
