According to primary information received from Lake Town police station, this heinous incident was committed about four days ago. The accused tuition teacher had called the victim, studying in class 12, to his private residence on the pretext of additional studies and exam preparation. According to the FIR lodged by the victim, the accused gave her a beverage (cold drink or juice) to drink while she was studying. It is alleged that as soon as the student drank that liquid, she became unconscious and taking advantage of that unconscious state, the accused teacher sexually assaulted her. After regaining consciousness, the victim somehow reached her home and tearfully narrated her ordeal to her family members.
Appearance in Vidhannagar Court: Accused claims innocence, forensic investigation begins
Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the police raided on Saturday and arrested the accused teacher. On Sunday, amidst police security, the accused was produced in the Bidhannagar Court, from where the police has sought his remand for further thorough interrogation. On the other hand, while being taken to the court premises, in front of the media cameras, the accused teacher completely rejected all the allegations against him. The accused claims that he is being implicated in this false case as part of a well-planned conspiracy. However, the police have seized samples of suspected beverages from the incident site and sent them to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for testing.
Case registered under POCSO Act: Medical test and statement of the victim recorded
Top officials of Kolkata Police told the press that as per the established rules of law, mandatory medical examination of the victim has been conducted and her statement has also been recorded before the Magistrate. The police have registered a case against the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO Act) and relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code. Investigating officers say that they are closely investigating every technical and scientific aspect of the case so that irrefutable evidence can be presented in the court.
