News India Live, Digital Desk: US President Donald Trump has signed a very strict executive order to break the back of Cuba’s communist government. Under this new order, America will impose heavy tariffs (additional charges) on any country supplying oil to Cuba. Declaring Cuba an ‘extraordinary threat to American national security’, Trump has made it clear that now Havana will get neither oil nor money.

Trump’s roar on Truth Social: ‘Now there will be zero oil, zero money’

Announcing this decision on his social media platform ‘Truth Social’, Trump wrote, “No more oil or money will go to Cuba – zero!” He warned the Cuban government that the nation was on the verge of complete failure and their only option was to make a deal. America alleges that Cuba, along with countries like Russia, China and Iran, is helping terrorist organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah.

Mexico stopped the supply, but gave the argument of ‘compulsion’

The effect of this order of Trump was immediately visible. Mexico has ‘temporarily’ halted oil supplies to Cuba. However, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has refused to accept it as American pressure. He said that this decision has been taken on the basis of ‘necessity’ and that Mexico’s solidarity with Cuba will remain.

Big shock for Cuba: 44% oil source closed

Oil supplies from Venezuela had already been cut off, and now Mexico’s move has put Cuba in deep trouble. According to the data:

Mexico: of Cuba’s total oil imports 44% Used to share.

Venezuela: 33% Used to supply oil (discontinued from January 2025).

Russia: About 10% Sending oil.

Mexican government company ‘Pemex’ was sending an average of 20,000 barrels of oil to Cuba every day, the stoppage of which is like a ‘death warrant’ for the Cuban economy.

American action is ‘International Robbery’ – Cuba counterattacks

Meanwhile, Cuban diplomats have accused the US of committing ‘international piracy in the Caribbean’. Cuba is going through its worst economic phase since the 1959 revolution. Due to shortage of fuel in the country, there are power cuts for hours, due to which the supply of food items and water has also been badly affected.

Will Cuba kneel?

Experts believe that Trump has laid siege to Cuba by using the ‘International Emergency Economic Powers Act’. If Russia or China did not help directly, situations like civil war or regime change could arise in Cuba. This move by America will also test its trade relations with Mexico and other Latin American countries.
