New Delhi: After winning the US presidential election, Donald Trump has selected many of his cabinet colleagues. In such a situation, Pakistan is very angry with the announcement of Trump’s upcoming cabinet names. The reason for this is that most of the leaders in Trump’s cabinet are those who do not have good views towards Pakistan.

Pakistani policy makers are seeing Trump’s election as an indication of the future foreign policy of the US administration. It is noteworthy that the names that have been announced have a clear message that India is very high in the priority list of the Trump government. It is believed that Pakistan is not included in the priority list of the Trump administration and American foreign policy.

Why is Pakistan worried?

Islamabad finds itself in a difficult situation as Trump’s nominated Secretary of State, Defense Secretary, National Security Advisor and CIA chief are all highly critical of Pakistan, while their attitude is very positive towards India. With no place in Washington’s foreign policy, senior government and military officials in Pakistan are reportedly trying to re-strategize their approach towards the United States. The name of Tulsi Gobard is also included in Trump’s new cabinet list, who often targets Pakistan.

America’s friendship with India will increase

Senator Marco Rubio has been nominated to be the next US Secretary of State. It is noteworthy that it was he who introduced the bill in support of India. The bill titled ‘US-India Defense Cooperation Act’ introduced in the Senate by Rubio also calls for increasing defense cooperation with India to counter China’s growing influence in the region.

According to the bill, the US was advised to treat India as top partners along with Japan, Israel, South Korea and NATO in terms of technology transfer. The bill also suggests that New Delhi should be provided full security assistance through cooperation in defence, economic investment and civil sector.
