Trudeau made a big mistake by taking enmity with India, Canada will become like Pakistan

Clinton also warned

According to a report, during her tenure as US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton had warned Pakistan, “You are raising snakes in your backyard and they will bite not only your neighbor but you too.” The same warning could be true for Canada today if Canada turned a blind eye to the activities of the Khalistan movement.

government saving game

Trudeau's approach may seem politically expedient. His party's alliance with Jagmeet Singh's New Democratic Party keeps his minority government intact. This helped him win the trust vote in Parliament. Although the Sikh population in Canada is small, being present in only a few pockets, they have their own political influence.

Canada becomes the center of extremism

India has repeatedly expressed concern that Canada has become a hotbed of Sikh extremism outside India. Trudeau has been accused of allowing anti-India separatist activities to grow for political gain. Due to which relations between the two countries have become tense. Diplomatic relations between the two countries have reached a historic low. What is worse, Trudeau has now admitted in a public inquiry that he had no concrete evidence when he made the allegations against India.

From drug trafficking to money laundering, strong networks extend across Canada. Canadian authorities became aware of these activities in the 1990s when drug dealers associated with Khalistani organizations were killed. Recently in 2023, prominent Canadian journalists of Indian origin faced violent attacks for speaking out against Khalistanis. Despite this, the Trudeau government has not taken any action.

Government experts once took the Khalistan insurgency seriously. It has mentioned this in its annual public report on terrorism. But now those references have been removed. The powerful Sikh lobby is said to have pressed for this.
