Mumbai, September 20 (HS). Near Belbag Chowk in the City Post Office area in Pune, on Friday evening around 4 o'clock, the road suddenly caved in and a truck fell straight into a 25 feet deep pit. As soon as the truck driver realized this, he suddenly jumped out and narrowly escaped. As soon as the information of the incident was received, the fire brigade personnel reached the spot and are trying to pull the truck out of the pit.
In fact, for the last several days, Pune Municipal Corporation had received many complaints about sewerage drains in Belbag Chowk area. In view of these complaints, the contract workers of Pune Municipal Corporation were doing sewerage repair work on the spot. Also, the material brought in the truck for this work was emptied and the empty truck was standing on the spot. Today evening at around 4 o'clock, the ground at the place where the truck had stopped caved in and the truck sank straight into the ground from the rear side, 25 feet down. The entire truck sank into the ground except the cabin part of the truck. The truck driver saved his life by jumping from the truck.
Suhas Jadhav of Pune Fire Brigade said that the work of removing the truck stuck in the road collapse pit is being done with the help of a crane.
