Kathmandu, July 28 (HS). Even after 17 days of two buses falling into the river in Nepal, no clue has been found. For the last one week, the body of any passenger on that bus has not been recovered. Meanwhile, the 20 kg magnet being used to find the bus also got lost in the river. In view of all this, the administration has decided to stop the search work from Sunday. Also, the NDRF team called from India for rescue also returned today.
It is noteworthy that on the morning of 12th July, a bus going from Kathmandu to Gauri and another bus coming from Birgunj to Kathmandu fell into the Trishuli river near Simaltal in Chitwan district due to landslide at the same place. There were a total of 65 passengers in both the buses. Before falling into the river, three passengers sitting in the cabin of the bus saved their lives by jumping. The remaining 62 passengers and both the buses fell into the strong current of the river.
Even after 17 days of the accident, no trace of either of the two buses could be found. The Indian government was requested to call the NDRF rescue and technical team to find the buses. Even after a week of continuous and intensive search by the teams of Nepal and India, no trace of the buses could be found. Nepal Armed Police Force DIG Purushottam Thapa said that all modern methods were used to find the missing buses in the river but till now no part of the bus could be recovered.
According to DIG Thapa, water drones, sonar cameras, laser lights, heavy weight magnets and divers were used to find the bus, but even after 17 days of the accident, no clue was found. DIG Thapa also said that the search operation was carried out not only around the accident site but also up to the Indian border about 150 km away. Meanwhile, the 20 kg magnet that was being used to find the bus was also lost in the river on Saturday.
Meanwhile, not a single body has been recovered for the last one week. Till last week, only 24 out of 65 bodies were recovered. But since not a single body has been found for a week, it has been decided to stop the rescue work from today. Chief District Magistrate of Chitwan district Indradev Yadav said that the rescue and technical team called from India had come here for a week but no clue could be found about either the bus or any passenger, so it has been decided to stop the rescue work from today. Chief District Magistrate Indradev Yadav has also given information about the departure of the NDRF team from India this morning.
