On the first day of the monsoon session of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, tribute was paid to the late members of the House – Shaila Rani Rawat and Kailash Chandra Gahtori. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Shaila Rani Rawat always stood with the struggles of the people of Kedarnath region. Her departure has left a void. Her departure is an irreparable loss.
The Chief Minister said that Shailrani Rawat was a strong leader who used to meet everyone with great warmth. She kept raising the issues of the state and the region in an effective manner. Shailrani Rawat dedicated her entire life to social service and public welfare and she was always ready for the people of her area. I had the opportunity to meet her many times and she always gave me affection like a younger brother. I have many memories associated with her.
The Chief Minister said that even when she was not an MLA after the Kedarnath disaster of 2013, she used to come with local people to resolve their problems. Her work will always inspire us. Born on 7 January 1956 in the house of Padma Singh Rana in village Gadolia of Tehri district, Shailarani played many important responsibilities in her life. In the year 2012, she was elected to the Legislative Assembly for the first time from Kedarnath constituency. After that she was re-elected in the year 2022.
The Chief Minister expressed grief over the death of Kailash Chandra Gahtori and said that Gahtori was the Chairman of Forest Development Corporation. His demise is a personal loss for me. I will always miss him in my life. He always guided me. He was completely dedicated to the development of Champawat region. In his lifetime, he helped people not only through government schemes but also on a personal level. The Chief Minister said that Gahtori has left the responsibility of Champawat to me and I am committed to fulfilling every dream of his.
