To cherish the memories of tribal cultural traditions and their struggles on the 150th birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda, Tribal Pride Day was celebrated today at the Government High School ground of village Khudia of Lormi development block of Mungeli district. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the program through virtual medium from Jamui, Bihar and congratulated and congratulated the countrymen. Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao participated as the chief guest in the district level program organized in Khudia. He paid tribute to Lord Birsa Munda on his birth anniversary.

He said that Lord Birsa Munda was a public leader. He made the tribal community aware about saving water, forests and land and inspired them to fight for their rights. Lord Birsa Munda fought against injustice and oppression. On the initiative of Prime Minister Modi, the birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda is celebrated every year on 15th November as Tribal Pride Country. Sao said that today Bhoomi Pujan and inauguration of various development works at a cost of Rs 18 crore has been done in Khudia area. With this, 538 houses have been approved in Khudia. I congratulate and best wishes to everyone for this.

Deputy Chief Minister Sao said that after the formation of our government, continuous work is being done for the betterment of the tribal society. Former Prime Minister Late. Atal Bihari Vajpayee created a separate department for the upliftment of tribals. Hostels and Eklavya schools are being opened at various places for the education of children of tribal community. Our government is continuously planning and working for the betterment of the tribal society. Our government is dedicated and is working with full diligence for the progress of the brothers and sisters of the tribal society and the development of the forest area. Today the daughter of the tribal community is sitting on the highest constitutional post of the country as the President. It is a matter of good fortune that today a son of the tribal community is working as the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh. Today, all-round development of Chhattisgarh is taking place with the basic mantra of ‘We have created, we will only improve’.

Chief guest Sav inspected the stalls

Chief guest Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao visited the stalls set up by various departments at the venue and took information about various schemes run by the government to benefit tribals and other communities. Sao provided food to the children in the stall of the Women and Child Development Department and also distributed nutritious food kits to the women and children. Tricycles were distributed to the beneficiaries in the stall of the Social Welfare Department. To make them aware and benefit from various schemes of the government, more than 20 departments including Tribal Development, District Panchayat, Forest, Education, Labour, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Horticulture set up stalls and informed the villagers about various schemes of the government.

Tribal society heads received honor for excellent work

Sao met the representatives of the tribal society in the program and honored more than 80 tribal society heads for their excellent work in various fields. These include former district members, society presidents, teachers, retired teachers and other eminent citizens of the society.

Honored the families of freedom fighters and martyrs

In the program, Deputy Chief Minister Sao inquired about the well being of the families of 15 freedom fighters and 6 brave martyrs of Mungeli district and honored them by presenting them shawls and quinces.

Development works inaugurated and foundation stone laid

Sao inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various development works in the programme. These include works worth Rs 17 crore 59 lakh 92 thousand including inauguration of 5 development works and laying of foundation stone of 3 construction works. In the programme, the foundation stone of works worth Rs 9 crore 58 lakh 71 thousand under Water Resources Department, Rs 5 crore 8 lakh 2 thousand under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and Rs 2 crore 93 lakh 19 thousand under Public Health Engineering Department were inaugurated.
