Dehradun, 15 November (HS). Tribal Pride Day The foundation day of Jharkhand state was celebrated on Friday at Raj Bhavan in Uttarakhand. During this period, various cultural programs and a unique glimpse of diverse tribal cultures were seen. In the programme, the people of Jaunsari and Bhotiya tribes of Uttarakhand along with the tribes of Arunachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Tripura and Nagaland displayed their rich traditions and folk dances through their cultural presentations.
On this occasion, Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd) while congratulating Jharkhand State Foundation Day said that this day makes us feel proud of Jharkhand’s amazing natural beauty, rich mineral resources and unique cultural heritage. The Governor said that the tribal society has made an important contribution to the cultural diversity of India, which has its own distinct dialect, food and clothing. The Governor said that under the thinking of ‘Ek Bharat-Shrestha Bharat’, the initiative to celebrate the foundation day of each state in other states is commendable. Such programs are enhancing India’s cultural diversity as well as the feeling of national unity and mutual understanding. The Governor said that the tribal society has an important contribution in the cultural diversity of India, which has its own distinct dialect, food and clothing. He praised the courage, dedication and lifestyle of the tribal society in harmony with nature. Also remembered the warriors who fought against the British rule and protected our rich heritage. He urged the tribal society to take inspiration from their approach towards conservation of forest wealth and climate change.
Appreciating the contribution of the tribes of Uttarakhand, the Governor said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, special efforts are being made in education, health and economic empowerment for the upliftment of the tribal community.
People of Jharkhand presented cultural dances on the foundation day of Jharkhand state. These presentations showcased the vibrancy of the culture of the tribal communities and the diversity of their traditions, which was viewed with utmost enthusiasm and appreciation by the audience. On this occasion, Secretary Dr. Neeraj Khairwal, Additional Secretary to Governor Swati S. Bhadauria, Director Tribal Welfare Sanjay Tolia, Additional Director Yogendra Rawat, Deputy Director Tribal Welfare Government of India Rahul Kumar, Coordinator Rajiv Kumar Solanki and many others were present.
