Jhansi, 22 April (HS). Earth Day is an auspicious occasion to express gratitude for the blessings of nature. Planting trees on a large scale is indispensable to enrich natural resources and provide a balanced environment to future generations. The above views were expressed by Divisional Forest Officer GB Shende while inaugurating the program by planting Amrapali mango sapling in Blue Wells Public School.
He said that today on the occasion of World Earth Day, we all should take a pledge that “Earth is the life of all of us, let us respect it”. If we want a good and healthy life, then along with planting trees, we will have to take care and nurture these trees and plants like our children. Divisional Forest Officer said that trees are the ornaments of our earth, their planting is our dedication towards the earth.
He told that plantation of plants is very important in the increasing climate change and there is a need to use Panchatantra stories in forest premises to spread its importance among children and public. He said that with the help of the Forest Department, Panchatantra Vatika based on the stories of Panchatantra should be established in the district and school premises. He appealed to the general public including the school students present on the occasion of World Earth Day that every citizen should plant at least 5 plants and also take proper care of those plants, so that the forest area of the state can increase. In this work, he appealed to the children, youth and residents of the district to participate enthusiastically in making the upcoming tree plantation program a complete success and said that in this work, saplings should be planted in every school campus and adequate arrangements should also be made for its security.
While presiding over the program, the Departmental Forest Officer said that with the inspiration of the Prime Minister, on the occasion of Amrit Mahotsav of Independence, Amrit ponds are being built at various places across India with a view to conserve water and along with the campaign to save water, single use plastic is being banned. Many effective schemes have been implemented to ban it. He suggested that to connect school children with nature from the beginning, small environmental songs and poems should be composed and distributed in schools, so that children can learn them. The program was conducted by Forest Inspector Amit Sharma.
