Kathua, July 29 (HS). The NCC unit of Government Degree College Kathua organized a tree plantation drive under the guidance of Principal Professor Seema Mir based on the theme 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' with a view to make Mother Earth green and clean.
On this occasion the Principal addressed the students and highlighted the importance of organizing such programs, as the temperature on the earth is increasing day by day due to increasing industrialization and deforestation, so it is necessary for everyone to plant at least one tree in a year. The program started with plantation by the Principal in the college campus. Then fruit and flowering plants of many species were planted in various departments of the college by the NCC cadets. The main purpose of organizing such events is to develop a sense of affection towards plants in mankind. As we all are aware of the fact that due to the increase in temperature our earth has become a fireball and gives rise to various problems like global warming, glacier depletion, soil erosion etc. and now the time has come to correct our mistakes which we have done earlier in the name of industrialization and so-called socio-economic development.
The entire program was organized under the supervision of Raj Kumari HOD and faculty members of various departments, Jagdish Kumar (HOD Chemistry), Dr. Dinesh Jasrotia (HOD Physics), Dr. Sanjeev Gupta (HOD Botany), Shraddha Anand, Dr. Shivani Kotwal, Dr. RK Manhas. Dr. Pinky, Dr. Shiv, Rakesh Sharma, Arun Kumar together made the campaign a success. The cadets were full of joy and enthusiasm during the entire campaign. The event was made possible by the constant motivation and guidance of Munish Jasrotia (CO NCC 2nd J&K Girls Battalion) of GDC Kathua NCC Unit.
