If you travel from expressway or national highway in Uttar Pradesh, now this journey is going to be a little more heavy on your pocket. The Yogi government has announced the increase in toll tax rates, which will be implemented from 12 noon of March 31. This change has been made under the notification issued by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
The direct impact of this increase will be seen on Eastern Peripheral Expressway, Delhi-Meerut Expressway and National Highway-9 (NH-9), where toll tax rates on cars, jeeps, buses, trucks and heavy vehicles will be higher than before.
Car, jeep and bus trucks to heavy vehicles affect all
According to new rates:
- Toll tax has been increased by ₹ 5 on light trains like car and jeep.
- Toll tax has increased by ₹ 20 for six tire vehicles such as bus and trucks.
- The highest increase has been recorded for heavy vehicles more than 7-Axle.
This increase will be applicable for every category vehicle and all will have to pay toll tax according to new rates.
New rates of toll tax according to vehicles
| Vehicle category | Old toll (₹) | New toll (₹) |
|---|---|---|
| Car / jeep / light car | 265 | 275 |
| 6 tires (bus/truck) | 560 | 580 |
| 10 tire vehicles | 610 | 630 |
| 12 tire vehicles | 875 | 905 |
| Trola (Multi-Axle Vehicle) | 1065 | 1105 |
This change will not only affect the passengers, but will also affect the transport and logistics industry. This cost will be like increasing for drivers and companies that have gone long journey.
Rates also increase on NH-9 and Delhi-Meerut Expressway
The toll rates have also been changed at the Chhejarasi toll plaza on NH-9. The toll tax for four wheelers like car and jeep has been increased by ₹ 5. Earlier, where ₹ 165 had to be given, now it has increased to ₹ 170.
Increased rates will also be applicable on Delhi-Meerut Expressway:
- For a car / jeep from Sarai Kale Khan to Meerut, now a unilateral journey will take toll ₹ 170.
- The toll from Meerut to Ghaziabad was earlier ₹ 70, which has now been reduced to ₹ 75.
Increase toll tax amidst inflation
At this time, the prices of fuel, food and other needs are already increasing across the country. In such a situation, this new increase in toll tax can become an additional burden for both ordinary people and businessmen. However, NHAI argues that this increase is part of the annual amendment process, which is implemented every year in late March.
