Kanpur, 09 December (HS). There are continuous allegations of corruption in the Divisional Transport Department (RTO) Kanpur. Vehicles are continuously being stopped for illegal recovery. Angered by this, the transporters and traders mobilized and reached the RTO office on Monday with the keys of the vehicles. After handing over the keys, it was said that now you all earn your full income, we are closing our business. Seeing the matter gaining momentum, the RTO administration itself reached the spot and somehow pacified the protesting people and assured that the matter would be investigated.

Under the leadership of General Secretary of Uttar Pradesh Industry Trade Board, Gyanesh Mishra, traders and transporters protested outside the RTO office located in Sarvodaya Nagar. Alleged that the enforcement department of RTO makes illegal recovery and issues huge challan for non-payment. Due to this, instead of profit, there is loss. All the transporters are worried. The police tried to wake up the transporters sitting on strike but they remained adamant on their demand.

On receiving information about the protest and sloganeering outside the RTO, RTO administration Rakendra Kumar reached and heard the problems of the traders. The traders made serious allegations of extortion against the RTO officer and employee and started handing over the keys. On this the RTO took a memorandum refusing to take the keys. RTO Rakendra Kumar Singh assured to investigate the matter and take action against the recovery officers. After that the traders and transporters returned. Business leader Gyanesh Mishra alleged that divisional department officials are busy in extorting employees. Due to this, traders are getting worried. For this reason, they have come to the divisional officer to give the keys of the vehicles and the memorandum. It has been assured that action will be taken against such officers and employees and an investigation will be conducted to find out. Among the protesters, Uttar Pradesh Youth Transport Organization President Shyam Shukla, Local Truck Association President Abdul Wahid etc. were prominently present.
