Ramgarh, 03 July (HS). Automatic block signaling system has started working on the 25 km long Tankuppa-Paharpur-Gurpa railway section of Dhanbad Railway Division. This is a part of the 204 km project from Pradhankhanta to Manpur. This project is estimated to cost around Rs 202 crore.
Chief Public Relations Officer Saraswati Chandra said on Wednesday that at present the absolute block system (traditional) is in operation. In this, in a block section, the train behind gets the green signal to proceed only after the train reaches the next station. Due to this, the capacity of empty railway lines cannot be fully utilized.
In the Automatic Block Signaling System, signals are installed at a distance of approximately one kilometer between two stations. Trains will keep moving behind each other with the help of signals. If there is a technical fault in the signal ahead, the trains running behind will also get the information. The train will stop wherever it is.
With the implementation of the Automatic Block Signal System, trains will be able to run one after the other at a distance of about one kilometer on the same route. This will increase the speed as well as the number of trains on the railway lines. Also, one will not have to wait for the train running ahead to reach the next station to pass a stalled train anywhere. As soon as the train moves ahead from the station yard, it will get the green signal, which means that trains will be able to run one after the other easily in a block section. Along with this, information about the location of trains will be available.
