Hazarduari Express collided with a Scorpio on Sunday night at a level crossing between Khardah and Sodpur railway stations of Sealdah-Ranaghat branch of Kolkata Suburban Railway. Two people were injured in this incident. On receiving information about the incident, police of Khardah police station reached the spot. Railway police also reached the spot.
According to police sources, on Sunday night a Scorpio was going from BT Road towards Rahda. At that time the railway gate towards platform number one was open. The girls were crossing the railway gate. Meanwhile, the railway gate towards line number four was closed. Meanwhile, suddenly the Down Lalgola Express (Hazarduari Express) passed from there and hit the Scorpio parked inside the level crossing. A Tata Indica car narrowly escaped in this accident.
According to the railway, the down Hazarduari Express was going towards Khardah at around 8:40 pm on Sunday night. During this time, suddenly a four-wheeler entered the level crossing and an accident occurred. An FIR has been lodged by the railway in this matter. After the incident, the train stopped for some time. Later, the Hazarduari Express left for its destination from Khardah station at 9:02 pm.
The driver of the damaged Scorpio said, “When I was going, the railway gates were open on both sides. The train was standing on platform number one and two due to lack of signal. After crossing the gate of platform number one, while crossing line number four, the gate on that side suddenly closed. As a result, our two vehicles could not pass. Then the signal for the through train of platform number four was given. The train came and hit my vehicle. My leg is injured. Since the vehicle was empty, no major accident occurred.”
