
Due to the onset of monsoon and torrential rains in different parts of the country, brakes have started applying on the wheels of Indian Railways. Traffic on the Mumbai-Pune rail route has been seriously affected due to the sudden massive landslide and debris on the tracks between Lonavala and Karjat on the South-East Ghats in Maharashtra.
Apart from this, due to track strengthening, block and maintenance works, Northern Railway and Chakradharpur Railway Division have decided to cancel and divert many special and regular trains on New Delhi, Lucknow, Bihar and Jharkhand routes. However, amidst this huge disaster, the local trains (Mumbai Local), which are called the lifeline of Mumbai, are running smoothly on their scheduled time.
Landslide between Lonavala-Karjat: These major trains were diverted
According to the official statement of Central Railway, due to disruption of Mumbai-Pune route. 09 July to 17 July 2026 Several long distance trains running between are being diverted via alternative routes:

Visakhapatnam – Mumbai LTT Express: Instead of its regular route, this train is now being run via Daund-Manmad-Igatpuri-Kalyan.

MGR Chennai Central – Ekta Nagar Express: It has been diverted via Daund-Manmad-Jalgaon-Paldhi-Surat.

Madurai – Mumbai LTT Express: This train is also being sent through the changed route Daund-Manmad-Igatpuri-Kalyan.

Other diverted trains: Apart from this, Ajmer-Daund (20992), Coimbatore-Rajkot (16614), and Ahmedabad-Chennai (20954) are also being run through different diverted routes.
Relief news: Under Western Railway, local services of Mumbai suburban network from Churchgate to Dahanu Road, Harbor Line and Mahim to Goregaon are completely normal.
These special trains were completely canceled due to maintenance
Northern Railway has canceled the following special trains in the month of July due to acute shortage of rakes and track maintenance, which may increase the problems of passengers:
