Trading volume in gold and silver ETFs increased fivefold since 1993

Mumbai: Buying Sonakhandi as an omen on the day of Dhanteras is no longer limited to physical form and investors are seen buying Sonakhandi in physical as well as digital form.

The combined net inflow into gold and silver exchange traded funds (ETFs) and fund of funds on Dhanteras of the current year is estimated to be Rs 250 crore.

Trading volumes of gold and silver ETFs on NSE were five times higher on Dhanteras 2023 compared to Dhanteras 2023.

The combined volume of gold and silver ETFs stood at Rs 428 crore, up from Rs 89 crore in 2013.

Barring these two months of March, 2023 and April, 2024, the last twenty months have seen net inflows into gold ETFs. The AUM of India's gold ETFs stood at Rs 39,824 crore at the end of September.
