An advisory has been issued by the Consulate General of India in Hong Kong for those traveling from India to Hong Kong. This advice is for people planning to visit Hong Kong for less than 14 days. As per the advisory, citizens will have to register for online Pre-Arrival Registration (PAR).

The Indian Embassy has given this information in a tweet on the social media platform Twitter (X). Indian nationals planning to visit the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) for a stay not exceeding 14 days are required to apply for online Pre-Arrival Registration (PAR), the statement said.

For how many days is PAR valid?

If successful, pre-arrival registration is valid for a period of 6 months and for multiple visits. The statement said that the information given in the PAR should completely match the information given in the passport. Along with this, passengers should also carry a print out of the successful PAR on A4 size white paper.

What other documents are required?

Additionally, Indian travelers must also have a passport validity of at least 6 months, a confirmed return or onward ticket, a confirmed hotel booking, proof of genuine purpose of travel and proof of adequate financial provisions. The Embassy also explained that holding a PAR does not guarantee the registrant entry into Hong Kong and also requires compliance with the above requirements.

“Please note that possession of a valid PAR does not guarantee the registrant's successful entry into Hong Kong,” the embassy statement said. There have been many cases where Hong Kong Immigration has not granted permission for disembarkation due to lack of the above required documents. Therefore, the Consulate General of India requests Indian nationals visiting Hong Kong to adhere to the regulations of the HKSAR Government in this regard, to minimize the possibility of any inconvenience to them.
