Dakshinamanaya Sri Sharada Peetham in Karnataka has appealed to devotees to be cautious as the water of Tunga river is flowing above the danger mark. According to the Meteorological Department, Shringeri received 190 mm of rain on July 15. However, experts have expressed hope that the intensity of rain will reduce by Sunday.
Dakshinamanaya Sri Sharada Peetham is also known as Sringeri Matha. It is located in Karnataka's Chikmagalur district. Devotees are advised to exercise caution and are requested to stay away from the river banks,” the Peetham said in a post on social media platform 'X' from its official handle. According to it, Sringeri recorded 190 mm of rain on July 15. However, experts expect the intensity of the rain to reduce by Sunday. A man who identified himself as “Karnataka Ghati” told X that a key road connecting Sringeri was also submerged in the video.
Another 'X' user Naveen Reddy has shown waterlogged areas around the temple premises in his video. He wrote, “During Chaturmasya, a large number of devotees come to visit Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankaracharya, as he is considered the head of the four Peethas established by Adi Shankaracharya.”
