New Delhi, July 5 (HS). National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson Rekha Sharma has condemned Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra's pyjama comment and demanded strict action. The National Commission for Women has taken suo motu cognizance of Mahua Moitra's comment. The Commission has demanded strict action from the Delhi Police on the TMC leader's derogatory and lewd comments.
According to the Commission, Mahua's comment comes under Section 79 of the Indian Justice Code, 2023. The Commission has initiated legal proceedings in this serious matter. A case has been registered with the Delhi Police and a letter has been sent to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha. Rekha Sharma said in a conversation with the media that Mahua Moitra is not a Member of Parliament but a troller. It is unfortunate that people have elected Mahua Moitra as an MP. A defamation case will be filed against her for her lewd remarks. A letter has also been written to the Delhi Police Commissioner to register an FIR against her.
It is noteworthy that on July 4, NCW chief Rekha Sharma went to Hathras to meet the victims who were injured in the tragic stampede that claimed the lives of 121 people. In the video, the umbrella under which the NCW chief is walking during the drizzle is being held by someone else.
Reacting to the video, people on social media wondered why the NCW chief could not hold the umbrella herself. Reacting to one such post, Mahua Moitra wrote that she is too busy holding her boss's pyjamas.
