Due to active monsoon across the country, the Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rain and strong thunderstorm in more than 14 states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi-NCR and hill states tomorrow i.e. 28th August. According to meteorologists, during this period there is a serious possibility of strong winds blowing at a speed of 70 to 90 kilometers per hour, lightning and waterlogging in low-lying areas.
The Meteorological Department has warned of torrential rains and thunderstorms in Purvanchal and Terai regions of Uttar Pradesh. There may be heavy rain with thunder and lightning in Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Ghazipur, Ballia, Azamgarh, Lucknow and surrounding districts.
In many districts of Bihar including Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Darbhanga and Purnia, there is a possibility of torrential rain with movement of clouds and storm with a speed of 40 to 50 km per hour.
Due to the effect of low pressure area, heavy rains will continue in Bhopal, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Rewa divisions of Madhya Pradesh.
Due to torrential rains in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, an alert has been issued regarding landslides and sudden rise in the water level of rivers. Travelers in sensitive areas like Chamoli, Nainital, Pithoragarh, Kullu, Kangra and Mandi have been advised to take special precautions and avoid unnecessary travel.
In the plains, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and districts of Rajasthan like Jaipur, Bharatpur, Sikar and Bikaner can see the impact of strong dust storm and rain moving at a speed of 60 to 70 km per hour.

IMD has issued a strict warning to farmers, people working outdoors and drivers not to take shelter under trees and electric poles during thunderstorms and lightning. There is a danger of damage to kutcha houses, solar panels and standing crops due to strong storm. The local administration has been put on alert mode to deal with emergency situations.
