Under this initiative of the government, Fastag-based annual pass of ₹ 3,000 is being offered from 15 August 2025. This pass will be valid for one year or 200 trip from the date of activation. Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, while sharing this information on social media platforms, has said that this pass has been made especially for non-commercial private vehicles (cars, jeeps, vans etc.) and this will make it possible to make access to national highways across the country.

A separate link will be made available

The Union Minister also informed that soon a separate link will be provided for the annual pass activation or renewal on the highway travel app and the website of NHAI/MRTH, which will make this process simple and easy. He said that this policy will remove long -standing concerns about toll plaza within a radius of 60 km and will facilitate toll payment through the same simple transactions.

What is fastag?

Fastag is a device that uses radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, allowing toll payments directly to the prepaid account connected to it. It is affixed to the windscreen of your vehicle and it enables you to pass through the toll plaza without stopping for cash transactions. You have to recharge/top up the tag as per your requirement.

Benefits of Fastag

There are many advantages to use Fastag. Using this, the customer gets SMS alert on its registered mobile number for all transactions done in his tag account. The customer does not have to worry about carrying cash for toll payment. Customers can recharge their tag account online through debit card or net banking. Apart from this, customers can see their statement by logging on to Fastag customer portal.
