Today there was sporadic rain in 31 talukas, only Lakhpat in Kutch received 1 inch rain

Heavy to very heavy rains have been predicted by the weather department in many parts of the state as 3 rain systems are simultaneously active in Gujarat. After heavy rains in South Gujarat and Saurashtra for the last two days, Meghraja took an overall break today, with only 31 talukas receiving light to moderate rains throughout the day.

According to the data released by the Gandhinagar-based State Emergency Operations Center, the maximum rainfall of 1 inch during the entire day today was recorded only in Lakhpat taluka of Kutch district. Apart from this, Kotda Sangani of Rajkot received 13 mm of rain and Nadiad of Kheda received 12 mm of rain. While the other 29 talukas of the state received less than 10 mm of rain.

Whereas during the two-hour period from 6 to 8 pm, only 7 talukas received rain. Out of which Lakhpat in Kutch recorded the highest rainfall of 14 mm.

The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rains in Rajkot, Porbandar, Junagadh, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Gir Somnath in Saurashtra and Navsari, Surat and Valsad in South Gujarat till July 22. In view of the possibility of heavy rains, orders have been given to deploy NDRF-SDRF teams at the district level to deal with any situation. So far, Gujarat has received an average of 31 percent of the season's rainfall. Out of which the highest 49.74 percent rain has occurred in the Saurashtra zone.
