News India Live, Digital Desk: today means 13 February 2026 ‘Vijaya Ekadashi’ of Krishna Paksha of Phalgun month is being celebrated. This Ekadashi has special significance in Hindu religion because it is believed that whoever observes fast on this day with full devotion, gets success in all his work and wins over his enemies.
1. Auspicious time of Vijaya Ekadashi 2026
Ekadashi Tithi Start: From 12 February 2026, 04:52 pm
Ekadashi date ends: 13 February 2026, till 03:14 pm
Time of Parana (breaking of fast): 14 February 2026, between 07:05 am to 09:18 am
2. Mythological fast story: When Shri Ram kept this fast
According to Padma Purana, when Lord Shri Ram reached the sea shore with his monkey army in search of Mother Sita, he was faced with the challenge of crossing the vast ocean.
Bakdalabhya sage’s advice: On the suggestion of Lakshman ji, Shri Ram sought guidance from sage Bakdalabhya living in the nearby ashram. The sage told that if they observe the fast of Phalgun Krishna Ekadashi (Vijaya Ekadashi) as per the rituals, they will find a way to cross the ocean and conquer Ravana.
Blessings of victory: Shri Ram observed this fast with his entire army, due to which he got success in crossing the ocean and ultimately he achieved the victory of righteousness over unrighteousness (Lanka Vijay).
3. Method and rules of fasting
wee hours Get up in the morning, take a bath and resolve to fast.
Install the idol of Lord Vishnu at the place of worship and offer him yellow flowers, fruits, Panchamrit and Tulsi Dal.
Observe the fast by fasting or eating fruits for the whole day.
Break the fast on the next day i.e. on Dwadashi only after giving donations to a Brahmin.
