To save people from cataclysm, God raised Govardhan Mountain on his little finger

Auraiya, 04 April (Hindus). In the Shrimad Bhagwat Katha going on in village Nagla Charbhuj of Achalda area, the narrator Saint Acharya Ankur Maharaj narrated the incident of childhood pastimes of Lord Shri Krishna along with Govardhan Leela. The devotees were mesmerized by listening to the description of the naming of Lord Krishna and the exploits of butter theft along with the killing of Putna.

Narrator Maharaj said that while Lord Krishna, through his Leelas, killed various demons sent by Kansa, he also provided happiness to the people of Braj.

During the katha, a beautiful tableau was decorated showing Lord Giriraj lifting the mountain. During this, the devotees kept dancing for a long time on the bhajans. It was told in the context that Indra had become proud of his authority and power. To remove his pride, God stopped worshiping Indra in Braj Mandal and started worshiping Govardhan. Angered by this, Indra caused heavy rain on Braj region. To save people from cataclysm, God lifted Govardhan Mountain on his little finger. After seven days Indra realized his mistake. There were 56 offerings made by the devotees. Prasad was distributed to the people there.
