Wife caught selling 30-day-old baby to repay loan: A shocking incident has come to light from Ramnagar, Karnataka, where a woman sold her own child to pay off her husband’s debt. The woman had sold her 30-day-old newborn without the knowledge of her husband. The matter erupted when the husband complained to the police that his son was missing.

The woman sold her 30-day-old newborn baby for Rs 1.5 lakh. The police have arrested the woman. Besides, the buyer of the child and two other associates have also been arrested. The woman told that the reason behind selling her child was her husband’s debt.
Father filed complaint
The child was rescued and sent to the child welfare home in Mandya. The woman’s husband had lodged a police complaint on December 7, 2024, that his newborn son had gone missing from home and he suspected some wrongdoing with the connivance of his wife. Both husband and wife work as daily wage laborers and have five children. Due to low income the couple was finding it difficult to run the household.

According to the report, the father told the police, “I have a loan of more than Rs 3 lakh and my wife had suggested to me a few days ago that to repay the loan, we should sell our newborn child to a childless couple. But I flatly refused and said that he should never think like this.”
He pretended to send a relative there
The newborn’s father told the police, “I returned home from work on the evening of December 5 and found my son missing. When I enquired, my wife told me that he had some health issues and she had sent him to a relative.” I went to work and returned at night, but again my son and my wife repeated the same thing, but this time I became suspicious.

The complainant said, “When I became suspicious, I asked my wife for the number of a doctor or relative. But she started making excuses, which led to a fight between us. After the complaint, the female police went to meet the child’s mother.
